How can you remove acne scars without spending a lot of money?

my scars aren't deep, their just darker than my skin color, and they have no bumps, how can i remove those without having to spend alot of money because i'm only a teenager and i dont have a lot of time to spend for this but i dont want my acne scars, it lowers my self-esteem.

The only thing I can think of would be Mederma...which is a scar removal cream..but its not cheap..its like $50 a tube..and the tube is small..I wish i could find something cheaper .b/c i have the same problem!
