Acne scars?

besides lasers how can you get rid of them or at least deminish their appearance?Acne scars?
Katie Ann,

It all depends on the types of scars you have and quantity. You cannot get rid of all scars, given that it is quite difficult, there are no true solutions to get rid of scars, not even lasers.

I had a problem with acne and it essentially causes so much trouble to your self-esteem. Many people do not understand how it affects individuals unless they have acne and have scars which they need to deal with after the acne has subsided. You get a lot of negative remarks from women (in my case as I am a male). And it makes it hard to get into relationships.

With this in mind, I set out to find a solution to get rid of my scars. I have rolling scars, some people have ice pick scars and other forms or a combination. So I will list what medical solutions are available for people who suffer from acne scars.

Needling: Is a process in which very fine needles are used to poke through the dermis (skin) around the scar. Some medics use a special device, which contains a multitude of needles, while other use a tattoo machine but without ink. Each puncture of the skin causes new collagen to form and it lifts the skin slightly. Many types of scars benefit from a small lift as it makes it more even with the rest of the face and the scar becomes less visible. Procedure costs $100 to $300

Subcision: Is a process in which the doctor will insert a syringe needle of 20 gauge or thinner where the scar is located. The doctor will then move the needle back and forth under the skin. This cuts the fibrosis tissue which holds down the skin and forms a scar. Once the fibrosis tissue is cut, the scar will raise and swell as a blood clot forms under the skin.

During the healing process, you will feel a tingling sensation as new collagen forms in the dermis. The process will continue for about a month, the more collagen that forms, the less visible the scar will be to you. Subcision is one of the best solutions for correcting scars and it has great results to most people who have rolling scars. It is not complicated and it does not hurt, but it will leave you with small bruises on each scar they treat for about a week.

The procedure does not cost much, about $400 for a face treatment done by dermatologists. The only draw back is that you have to convince you doctor to do it to you, as they prefer to sell you a laser treatment because they earn more money from it. But this seems to be the most effective way of correcting rolling scars and most effective.

Dermabrasion: This procedure is done on all types of scars. They will use a tool which scrapes off the upper layers of your skin. Once the skin is removed, it will take about 10 days for it to grow back and you will have to take good care of your face for several months. The skin usually comes back with fewer scars and smoother as it is new skin. It will look red or pink for several months as you lose pigmentation. The cost of this procedure ranges from $900 to $2500 depending on the doctor.

Excision: This is a procedure used to correct ice pick scars. The doctor will cut out the scar and stitch the skin together. This removes the scar and you end up with a smooth face per scar they excise. The costs vary a great deal and range from $50 to $100 per excised scar.

Dermal fillers: These are injected in the dermis and lift the scar up. These are not permanent and last between 3 to 12 months. The price ranges from $300 to $500 per syringe.

Chemical peels: TCA at 25 to 35% strength can be used to treat acne scars. The chemicals are placed on the face for a few minutes and during a weeks time, your skin will peel revealing new skin with slightly less scars. TCA is the most used agent to treat acne scars as it does a deep peel. The cost of TCA peels ranges from $200 to $400

Laser: Doctors use a laser to remove layers of skin and the result is finer skin after you heal. It is not recommended for people who have darker skin. The costs are high and range from $3000 to $5000 or even more.

These are the best solutions to treat and correct acne scars. There are other treatments, however they will not correct acne scars.Acne scars?
Go see a dermatoligist, be careful with over the counter. Could make worse!!!
Don't pop your pimples. That's what causes the scars. Try using cleansers and wash your face twice a day.
I would consider using Proactiv Solution. You will see results quickly. It will heal your current acne and also lighten your acne scarring. You can also order the Lightening lotion that speeds up the results.
now proactive does work but not for everyone. if i was u first use proactive and see how it does to your face... if nothing happens in three months go to your dematogoglist for some lighting creams
since different ppl have difference skin it is hard to tell but i wil tell you to try this ambi soap and creme it gets rid of any scars in your face or you can try ultra glow you can find them both at wal-mart of the dollar store b/c 3 months ago my mother had lots of scars on her face i seen her recently and her face is clear as ever so you should try one of them
Break open a vitamin E capsule and spread on the effected areas. I have removedor dimiinished every kind of scar with this stuff for years. Do this everynight before you go to bed (make sure to cleanse thouroughly when you wake up!) This will also keep your skin looking healthy. Another tip: VE works best when the blemishes are fresh, as well as burns and cuts.
proactive!! trust me it really works!!
Try the curad scar patches, they don't remove the scars completely but they fade them quite a bit. Also try products with Retinol or Retin-A but be sure you use sun protection religiously or you will get significant sun damage.
Wow! People are giving you the same answers and someone even gave you a 3 page lecture. lol Anyways I have something that will help. Have you ever bought anything from Avon? I buy most of my make up, creams, lotions, etc from them and they work great. I dont have acne but my cousin does and she also uses avon. She bought this cream, its called BANISHING CREAM SKIN DISCOLORATION LIGHTENER, you can use it to fade away freckles, scars, and spots on the skin. I advise you to use this because it really works to help fade them. Anyways, thats all I wanted to say, see ya.
From my experience, the cream Mederma does well with scars.
